”Close encounters with...” Rocks in motion. Petroglyphs and paths in the heart of the Western Desert 29.09 - 20.11.2022

On display: 29 September - 30 November 2022
Exhibition curator: dr Paweł Polkowski

"Rocks in Motion. Petroglyphs and Paths in the Heart of the Western Desert" is the title of the next temporary exhibition in the series "Close encounters with...".

The exhibition presents various aspects of research on the petroglyphic art of the Dakhla Oasis in Egypt, created from prehistoric times to the present day. Our main aim is to show that a better understanding of petroglyphs - rock engravings - is not solely dependent on what they depict but just as much on where they are located. Hence the focus on the paths, trails, and movement, often accompanied by rock art in the past and still today.

The exhibition has its catalogue that will be available to download for free in a PDF format.

Opening: 29 September 2022.

The catalogue accompanying the exhibition in pdf format is available to download for free here.
