Women's clothes and ornaments, while designed to highlight the owner's aesthetic preferences, rarely had a purely decorative function. They often served as markers of one's position within the family or tribal structure, acting as expressions of cultural and religious affiliations.

The exhibition titled "She had attire richly adorned, painted in different worlds" delves into the captivating realm of early medieval women's attire and jewellery, revealing them as objects that tell a nuanced narrative beyond mere adornment. Created by Karolina Czonstke-Świątkowska from the Museum of Archaeology in Gdańsk and first displayed in Sopot, it showcases unique artefacts representing the intertwining traditions of Scandinavian, Slavic and Baltic cultures during the 10th to 12th centuries. The Poznań edition, curated by Kamila Dolata-Goszcz, introduces an entirely different archaeological layer, featuring discoveries from the broader Wielkopolska region and Poznań itself.
