Muzeum Archeologiczne w Poznaniu (MAP) – host institution and co-organiser of the exhibition

The Archaeological Museum in Poznań is one of the oldest and most prestigious museums in Poland. For decades, it has combined its roles as a cultural institution and a leading research centre renowned for its archaeological work in Egypt and Sudan. The exhibition “The Joy of Life in the Shine of Ra” not only brings together international loans but also presents distinguished objects from the Museum’s own collections.

The Egyptian Museum and Papyrus Collection in Berlin is one of the most important institutions of its kind in the world and the largest collection of ancient Egyptian artefacts in Germany. It is currently located in the Neues Museum on Museum Island, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The collection comprises approximately 50,000 archaeological objects and 60,000 papyri and ostraca, documenting over 3,000 years of Egyptian history, from the Predynastic Period to Roman times. Thanks to long-standing scholarly collaboration with the Archaeological Museum in Poznań, a significant number of objects from its renowned collections are presented in the exhibition.

Staatliches Museum Ägyptischer Kunst, Monachium – - lending institution
The State Museum of Egyptian Art in Munich (SMÄK) is the only institution outside of Egypt dedicated entirely to the art of Ancient Egypt. The museum is renowned for its innovative approach to exhibitions, blending ancient treasures with modern, underground architecture. Its collection spans masterpieces from the Predynastic period through the Roman and Christian eras. The participation of the Staatliches Museum Ägyptischer Kunst in the project "The Joy of Life in the Shine of Ra" highlights the exhibition’s prestige and offers the Polish audience a unique opportunity to experience world-class works of art.

The National Museum in Poznań is one of the oldest and most distinguished museum institutions in Poland, with origins dating back to 1857. As a multi-branch institution, it preserves cultural heritage spanning from antiquity to contemporary art. The exhibition will feature a selection of ancient Egyptian objects from its collections. These unique artefacts complement the overall narrative, enabling a dialogue between Polish and German collections.
