Hunters of the praire

The exhibition of the cycle "Close encounters with..." dedicated usually to one artefact or a single topic.

15 December 2019 - 15 June 2020

Curator: Dr Małgorzata Winiarska-Kabacińska

The exhibition "Hunters of the prairie" provides some insights into the lives of prehistoric hunters. It showcases unique North American stone blades held in the collection of the Archaeological Museum in Poznań. These artefacts were parts of the equipment of hunters from the Archaic period (10 000 to 3 000 years ago), who lived on the Great Plains of North America hunting mainly bisons and the peoples from the Woodland period (3 000 to 1 000 years ago) who hunted also other animal species such as deer, moose and bear.
