Tabulae - Roman games from Poland - temporary exhibition (12 March - 09 June 2024)

On display: 12 March - 5 June 2024

Author of the exhibition (Podlaskie Museum in Białystok): Hubert Lepionka

Exhibition curator at the Archaeological Museum in Poznań: Joanna Teska, Sebastian Teska

The "Tabulae - Roman Games from Poland" exhibition presents a unique collection of nearly 120 game-related objects discovered during excavations of Roman period cemeteries in the Podlaskie and Wielkopolskie voivodeships. These artefacts, crafted from glass, bone, stone and clay, include dice, game pieces, and reconstructed game boards. However, the exhibition goes beyond simply showcasing these ancient treasures. Reconstructions of games based on archaeological and historical sources will bring the Roman world of entertainment to life, allowing visitors to experience these games firsthand. Educational demonstrations and workshops will provide a deeper understanding of the historical and cultural context of these games. Whether you're a history buff, a board game enthusiast, or simply looking for a fun family outing, the "Tabulae" exhibition offers a fascinating journey into the world of ancient Roman games.
