RECEIPT OF ARCHAEOLOGICAL MATERIALS

The Directorate of the Archaeological Museum in Poznań (MAP) informs about readiness to accept materials from archaeological research conducted in the city of Poznań, the Poznań poviat and the Wielkopolskie voivodship. The condition for the acceptance of materials is their preparation in accordance with the following guidelines. All costs of preparing materials and documentation are borne by the investor or research manager. MAP does not charge any fees for accepting materials and documentation. GUIDELINES: PREPARATION OF MATERIALS AND DOCUMENTATION FOR PURCHASING ON MAP. A letter should be sent to the MAP Directorate for the receipt of archaeological materials along with justification. After obtaining the written consent of the Directorate, the main MAP Inventor should be provided with information about the examined position (position function, location, chronology with the quantity and type of materials assigned to it) and photocopies of field inventories. MAP in accordance with the applicable procedures, apply to the appropriate office of the monument conservator for permission to take the materials into a deposit, and then for ownership. Only after the conservation decisions have been received, the materials can be inventoried and delivered to the MAP along with the agreed date. Preparation of materials: a / materials must be washed, preserved, described, packed in bags containing completed specifications (according to the design of the Archaeological Museum). Monuments of the so-called separated - materials with display qualities, special scientific values, or exceptional for other reasons, should be transferred in boxes marked with certificates for the respective Archaeological Museum workshops, in accordance with their cultural and chronological affiliation. Mass monuments - materials transferred to the Regional Archaeological Materials Repository (RSMA) must be divided into categories: ceramics, bone materials, samples, etc. Pouches with labels should be placed in plastic containers with lids, parameters set for RSMA (contact with mgr. Paweł Wolff, Guardian of Składnica). Containers should be marked according to the rules used in RSMA. In the case of both separate and mass monuments, it is required to prepare transfer protocols with a list of materials, including inventory numbers, catalog and field inventory. b / to the MAP Scientific Archive, photocopies of all documentation should be submitted, including: mass material inventories, inventories of separated materials, research journals, plans, test reports, reports to the Conservator, photographs copied onto a CD, etc., and copies of studies, if they were done. c / to the Main MAP Inventor, catalog cards of dedicated monuments and mass material should be provided, made in the MuzArp program, which is provided for free by the MAP (contact with Ms Kamila Dolata-Goszcz) including forms for printing them.
